San Carlos Hospital is a small, independent, country hospital for local indigenous people, run by nuns in Chiapas, Southern Mexico. Faced with an inadequate governmental health system whose structures are absent or badly adapted, the nuns run a hospital culturally adapted, economically and socially, to the needs of the Mayan people of the region.
