A documentary of 52-minutes, coinciding with the centenary
of the invention of cinema. The film shows how Alsace
has a completely unique cinematic development not experienced
in other parts of France or Germany because of the region's
position between these two conflicting nations.
Using many extracts of film archives, "The Flicks" leads
us through cinemas and film shoots. We are introduced
to the pioneers of cinema in Alsace, among whom the most
renowned is William Wyler of Ben Hur fame.
