A 52-minute documentary in which five families who immigrated
to Alsace between 1948 and the early 1970's recount their
stories. Fathers remember their arrival in the workplace
where manpower from abroad was vitally needed. Mothers
describe the wrench of leaving home, to confront a world
which didn't even speak the same language. Their stories
interweave and are put in perspective by their children
who also question their own future.
